Recognizing The Right Roofing

How To Know If You Might Need A Complete Roof Replacement

As a homeowner, it is very important to make sure that you are well aware of the signs that might indicate the need for a total residential roof replacement. This is important because the longer a bad roof is allowed to remain on your home, the more damage it can do. Therefore, you will want to spend a little time reviewing the following signs that it is time for a complete replacement of your residential roof. Here are a few of those signs.

There Are A Lot Of Waves In Your Roof

When you stand back from your home and you take a look at the roof, you should notice that it is nice and smooth. If you happen to notice that there are a lot of waves or bumps all over the roof, then it is time to immediately call for a roofing contractor. This is a sign of serious roofing trouble. A lot of water damage has occurred and it cannot be repaired without a total replacement of all of the roofing materials. The wood beneath the shingles and roofing paper must be ripped out because the swelling of the wood will not go back down. With that much water damage, there is a good chance that there is a problem with mold in those boards, which can spread to your attic space and then to the rest of your home.

Water Is Coming Into The Home In Various Spots

One leaky spot in the roof does not automatically mean that the roof has to be completely replaced. In fact, there is a good chance that just that spot will need to be repaired and that the rest of the roof can be left alone. However, if there are multiple areas in your home that are getting water in, then there is probably enough damage on the roof to warrant a full replacement. It could be that your roof is simply getting very old. If the roofing contractor just fixes those spots, it is only a matter of time before more leaks occur. By replacing the entire roof now, you will not have to worry about more leaks for a very long time.

Always make sure that you are getting in touch with a roofing contractor right away. Even if you are not sure as to whether you have a need for a brand-new roof, give them a call anyway. They can come out, inspect the roof, and give you their professional opinion concerning the condition of your roof.
